I’M A GREAT DIVER!

Icone Relogio 27 de March de 2019

Did you know that Hippos (Hippopotamus amphibius) can stay up to 5 minutes underwater without breathing? They are excellent divers. They love to stay in the water for hours, especially during the day to cool off. At night, they seek the dry land to graze.

They weigh 3 to 4 tons and males are larger than females. They are large and robust, and they have a thick layer of fat, very short legs, a large muzzle, and large tusks.

Hippos can reach the age of 54 years in captivity and 41 years in the wild.

The word “Hippopotamus” comes from Greek, which means “River Horse”

Hippos are herbivores; that is, their diet is plant-based.
